Entre sus numerosas obras destacan \u00abMemoria del fuego\u00bb, \u00abLos d\u00edas siguientes\u00bb, \u00abGuatemala, pa\u00eds ocupado\u00bb, \u00abSu majestad el f\u00fatbol\u00bb, \u00abEl f\u00fatbol a sol y sombra\u00bb, \u00abCr\u00f3nicas latinoamericanas\u00bb, \u00abLa contrase\u00f1a\u00bb, \u00ab\u00daselo y t\u00edrelo\u00bb, \u00abPatas arriba. La escuela del mundo al rev\u00e9s\u00bb y la universalmente reconocida \u00abLas venas abiertas de Am\u00e9rica Latina\u00bb. <\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif\"><\/span><br \/><a name='more'><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif\">Su obra se distingui\u00f3 por trascender g\u00e9neros ortodoxos y combinar documental, ficci\u00f3n, periodismo, an\u00e1lisis pol\u00edtico e historia. <\/p>\n<p>En los a\u00f1os sesenta comenz\u00f3 su carrera period\u00edstica, trabajando como editor en el semanario Marcha y durante dos a\u00f1os en el diario \u00c9poca. Tras el golpe de estado de 1973, Galeano tuvo que dejar Uruguay y march\u00f3 a vivir a Argentina, donde fund\u00f3 un magac\u00edn cultural de nombre Crisis.
